See what's cookin' in robo.to lately...

Summertime is coming and lots of you are done with studies. Love how you enjoy robo.to, keep it up with your webcam until the iphone app comes out.

A quick reminder on how to send your recordings from your iphone/smartphone.

1. Record a video update with your phone in landscape or horizontal position (this is to avoid publishing your robo upside down).

2. Email your video to the unique email address we generated for you when you added the uploader module at the bottom of your robo.to page. Don't give this email address away unless you want someone else to be able to send their video updates into your robo.to page.

3. Include a blurb by adding your text in the subject of the email. Done!

Robo.to will crop your video to 4 secs so don't send long vids! Oh, and check out these updates we've compiled into a music video...

why my robo.to is not workin'?

Are you trying everything conceivable to record your robo.to updates with your computer, but nothing works? Here, we help you to understand what's happening, and how to get back to the business of updating your oh-so-goodlooking self.

Robo_lost

"Robot lost"  - This might mean you lost your connection for a second.

The video maker automatically tries to reconnect for 4 seconds. If the message disappears, you're back in business.  If not, check your wifi or internet connection and give the page a refresh. Also the Google Plugin that is installed to use video chat in Gmail, sometimes disables the connection with your cam and robo.to. Unistalling this plugin:

1. Look in your computer for: "GoogleVoiceAndVideoUninstaller.app".

2. Close all active browsers and then double click on the app.

3. After you get the confirmation message, it should work for you.

"Robot unplugged" -  Hmm... that's probably another internet connection issue.

A page refresh with a solid connection will solve this immediately. This seems to happen most often with spotty wifi. If you are still having problems  you can contact us on Twitter  or sending an email@particularplace.com and we'll sort it out as soon and as best as we can.

The More The Funnier

It's not always just about *you* -ya know? We’ve seen how some people love to record their 4-second videos updates with a bunch of friends. Procrastinatin' at class ( yes robo.to isn't banned,XD), getting ready for a party, or just hanging out, dancing, cooking, etc.

Use your own account or create one for a group or events.

Check out how we do it in our parties.

How to share your face on Twitter

You can easily set up your robo.to to send your update over to your Twitter whenever you like. Of course you can always do it the long way by copy + pasting the URL and sharing it wherever you want. But we made it easy:

1. Go to your profile and toward the bottom of the page you will see a menu of modules. Select Twitter and follow the steps as it authenticates then boom, you're set.

Guardar6_copy9
2. Now each time you record an update you will see an option to relay it to Twitter. Select it before you publish. Yes you want to also include a link back to the video.

That's it! Easy as pie. Comments?

Oh and if you're having a bad hair day or what and don't feel like recording something new but want to update the text anyway, just click “renew”.

What can i do with my robo.to?

SOME IDEAS ...

Keep it fresh! Complement your website, portfolio, or blog by adding a robo.to badge you can easily copy & paste.

Show 'em who you are. Use your robo.to as a new way to present yourself. Show off your latest outfit, shoes, or make up. Set trends and share your own creations!

Send your face. Record greetings for your buddy, show how much you miss your boyfriend, or how excited you are about the last day of school!

Get creative.Use props, effects, change the position of your camera, and play with the lights.

Here's a great example, one of our favorites from our friend Arriola.

Want to add a badge to your website or blog?

Screen-shot-2011-04-07-at-2

HOW TO ADD A BADGE :

  1. Sign in to your robo.to account.
  2. From your robo.to page, scroll toward the bottom. Click on the "Embed my Face" option.
  3. Grab the embed code you see there by selecting and copying the code --OR-- as an alternate option, click to launch the customizer tool which lets you specify certain visual attributes without having to edit the code yourself. After customizing, select and copy the code.
  4. Paste the code into your site or blog. Done! Your badge will automatically displays your latest update.

HOW TO DISPLAY JUST ONE :
  1. If you would rather show only a particular update you made in the past, you can do this by editing the embed code above and adding the specific iid (in red) to the end of the uuid code (in yellow). Notice that each need to be preceeded by an ampersand (&) symbol, like so &uuid=###############&iid=######
  2. You can get your actual iid by following the steps below.

HOW TO GET THE IID OF A PARTICULAR UPDATE:

  1. From your robo.to page click "see all" above your video.
  2. Find the one update you'd like to display and click it.
  3. Notice up at the URL of the new page that it ends with a questionmark "?" followed by yhe iid. Ignore the questionmark and only copy the iid=######
  4. Take the iid=###### and add it to your embed code as instructed above. Note that you will need to add it in two places. And you will need to preceed it with an ampersand (&) symbol.
